Local Wellness Committee

Our Purpose:

The Nicholas County School District will convene a representative district wellness committee that meets at least four time per year to establish goals for and oversee school health and safety policies and programs, including development, implementation and periodic review and update of the district-level wellness policy.

The committee membership will represent all school levels (elementary and secondary schools) and include, but not limited to: parents and caregivers; students; representatives of the school nutrition program; physical education teachers; school health professionals and the general public.

Leadership:

The wellness committee designee(s) will convene and facilitate development of and updates to the wellness policy and will ensure each school's compliance with the policy. Each school will designate a school wellness policy coordinator, who will ensure compliance with the policy.

EVENTS:

October 15, 2019

The 5th Grade Fun Run & Nutrition Fair is an exciting event held annually at Battle Run Campground for all 5th grade students in Nicholas County Schools. Students spend the day rotating through activity booths such as dancing, obstacle course training, water safety practices, lake trail hikes and much more. Students also participate in a 1.5 mile trail run atop the dike near the Summersville Lake. Students received a sack lunch prepared by the NCCTC ProStart class and custom pedometers donated by New River Health.
